much about nothing much
What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper?
The advice that I would give is this;
1.If you have the option to write on your own chosen topic, make it a good one.Make sure you have an initial interest in the subject.Make it a topic that either you ave always wanted to know more about or make it a topic that pertains to family/friend that could make you understand their condition more.
2.If the topic is predetermined by the professor, find something about it that's different or interesting and run with it.
3.When drawing notes from articles, always include the source of the reference so that when writing the essay, you can cite in-text as you go.
4.The thesis statement is crucial to the entire paper.Make sure to include 3 strong points worth covering. When applying each point within the body,do them in the same order as listed in the thesis statement.
5.Learn the paramedic method now so that when you need to edit/revise,they will be easier to correct.
6.Make sure to restate the 3 strong points when concluding the essay.
7.Consider peer review as suggestive and instructor review as imperative.
8.Don't try to write it all at once or wait until the last minute to begin.
9.Don' be discouraged if you don't get an "A",learn from your mistakes so that the next essay is an "A".
10.Don't plagiarize!

much about nothing much
•How do you feel about writing at this point? Has your idea of writing changed throughout the course?
I have always enjoyed writing, in general. My idea of writing has changed throughout the course, I can now spot more errors than before.I was going to post my short story but as I read it, I noticed a lot of extra words that didn't need to be there, I could have re-worded some sentences to bring the subject closer to the beginning of the sentence rather than at the end.The only advantage that I have with my own writing is a thing called "creative artistic/poetic license". This license allows me to phrase the way I please because poetry typically rhymes.I can hyphenate words that shouldn't be hyphenated if need be.I can also write in active voice AND passive voice in the same sentence! If we wrote "This term is almost o'er",well, that doesn't go over (o'er) to well but when written in poetry, its acceptable.I still plan on entering my story in my blog though.I really enjoyed this class.I only wish that it was matched up with an easier class than "Diseases of the Human Body",I had to write extensive essays that were due at the same time as this class.I still have work to do on my essay for this class but I finish my other essay but now I have a final exam to study for!No final for this class,YEA!

much about nothing much
Discuss any issues you have had throughout the process.I have enjoyed the blogging experience. I thought that it allowed us to get to know each other a little better. I did not have many issues throughout the process other than trying to eliminate the advertisements from my video bars and wondering why some posts went on the intended persons page and others stayed on mine.
• How do you feel about the comments, or lack of comments, that have been made to your blog posts? I liked the comments, although few, that were posted to my blog. I think that blogspot should format their site as facebook does in regards to notifications of responses. I did not realized that a classmate posted back to one of my responses until weeks later when,by chance,I happened to look at older posts.Perhaps we should remember to inform others that we posted to their page,as some classmates did.
• Do you plan to continue your blog even after the course? I think that I will continue to keep my blog page open after the course.I would like to post my short story, since I never had it notarized, a time stamp from blogspot is probably just as good.I wrote and illustrated it in 1995 and even typed it in manuscript form but didn't try to publish it.Prior to writing this story,I had an idea for story that I didn't put down on paper and really wished that I had.The story was about a little boy who was grounded to his room. His toys communicated with him and only him.It had an etch-a-sketch that wrote to him,a Mr.Potato Head that had many different personalities...Sound familiar yet?The movie "Toy Story" was released shortly after I had a chance to write it.The only difference was that mine would have rhymed within quotes, the same way that the one I did write does.

How do you feel about peer reviews? What have your experiences with them been like?
Usually,I enjoy peer to peer reviews. I have fallen a week behind in both classes and was unable to submit any and all assigned work. I turned in late work but it wasn't what I would typically turn in at all.I have never minded being the one criticized but I don't like to do it to others. I don't mind making simple suggestions or pointing out misspelled words but I do not judge techniques or styles because I have failed miserably in this terms essay.Usually,I am more than happy to have my work reviewed but this week,I will be told things that I am already aware of.
My experiences in past classes with peer to peer reviews were great. It was nice to be proud of the work that was being critiqued.Although I have never used emoticons to soften the tone or as a friendly reminder,my feedback wasn't taken harshly by classmates, that may be my strong point in writing. In past classes,I appreciated the feedback from fellow classmates because most people won't critique something in written form unless they are pretty sure that their input is correct or they usually critique with their own strong points, whether it be spelling or proper citation.Often,a fresh set of eyes reading your paper is of great advantage because they may see something that you have overlooked several times.
